LIGHTING COMMITTEE , Suggestions

Henry Muller May 25 , 2008

The Status Report of May 2, 2008 is the last release on the Status of the ongoing Lighting Projects.

The following is not a Report but merely suggestions :

1. The real Workhorse of all of the Lollypops is the one positioned between Building 1 and 4 next to the Shuffleboard .It has not been operating for some time , and if re lamped worked for A day or two at the most. The area around it is very dark . A few thoughts on how to fix it until the new Post tops are installed later this summer.

A. There may be a short in the socket area.
B. The Lollypop maybe wired at a higher Voltage than 120 V\
C. The original Lamp ( Bulb ) may have been a HID E17 operating through a Ballast which supplies a higher Voltage initially in order To fire up the HID lamp. A compact FL. Lamp , as is used now, would have a short life.

For the sake of safety our El. Contractor should check out the problem.

2. The Downlight Post top street light located at the beginning of the Center Isle in front of Building #1 has its Lighting Element positioned above the Crowns of 2 Palm trees which are blocking a lot of light. The suggestion is , at the time of the next re lamping with use of a Cherry picker ? change the position of the Lighting Box by 180 Degrees. The Box is fastened to the Pole top by 3 screws using a die cast holder . The whole assembly can be turned by 180 Degrees disturbing the wire connections. This would properly light up the corner turn area and provide safety.
3. The Post top Luminaire in the corner of the South West turn of the Drive towards Building #2 is covered by a lot of tree branches and is totally inefficient .

Just suggestions . I am leaving May 27th and will be back the last week of October through the first two weeks of November 2008.
